Estbek House

This popular restaurant with rooms occupies an impressive listed building on the seafront of a small coastal village not far from Whitby. Dine alfresco in a pretty cobbled courtyard in summer or upstairs in the contemporary restaurant - a chic and romantic room decked out with mirrors, sparkling glassware and high-backed leather chairs. Local fish is the mainstay of the menu, but there's plenty of other fare to tempt including a wild mushroom basket starter and mains such as loin of lamb with a raspberry and rosemary sauce. Start with sweet-cured Orkney herring fillets in Madeira, and then tuck into cod Mornay, or lobster and crab ravioli with king scallop, with hot Kirsch cherries and vanilla pod ice cream to finish.
