Description
A traditional 18th-century townhouse set over four floors is the elegant setting for this popular Soho restaurant, its discreet doorbell rung by a loyal band of regulars and foodies year after year. The warren of dining rooms with open fires and comfortable, stylish furnishings and décor make this a favourite for those looking for discreet yet homely dining. On the ground and first floors, elegant traditional-style dining rooms are cosy and inviting, while on the second floor the Chef's Library provides an intimate setting for private parties. Diners can choose from an array of menus, including a seasonal lunchtime market menu, garden (vegetarian), tasting option and carte to suit the occasion, waistband or wallet. Richard Corrigan's cooking style relies on marrying top quality, quintessentially British and Irish ingredients with French cooking techniques to create robust, simple flavours. It's hard to choose from all the delights, but clever combinations and excellent presentation might deliver a starter of white gazpacho with organic yogurt, Muscat grapes and warm potted crab, or a main course of fillet of hake in almond milk with langoustine ravioli and spiced carrot, while for dessert a dreamy chocolate mousse filled with orange parfait and served with rich dark chocolate sauce really hits the spot. Breads, amuse-bouche and petits fours are all top notch.
