Description
As the name suggests, this pristine 17th-century house is located right on the quayside of this picturesque fishing village, taking in all the sights and sounds of the sea and enjoying lovely views over the estuary. The elegant restaurant occupies centre stage, its peaceful neutral shades punctuated with brightly coloured artwork creating a contemporary vibe. Tables are well spaced, service is polished and friendly, and the mood relaxed. There's a cosy bar for aperitifs and canapés, while the small terrace comes into its own in summer. Home to some of the best cuisine on the South Coast, the kitchen's modern approach is delivered via a fixed-price repertoire that includes a good-value lunch, impressive carte and eleven-course tasting option. Quality ingredients, flawless execution and memorable flavours distinguish the complex cooking style: expect mains such as fillet of brill, roasted on caramelised fennel and confit tomato, with a fresh mussel, white onion and parsley chowder, followed perhaps by iced peanut parfait with mini butterscotch doughnuts and coffee and white chocolate foam. An impressive wine list and four en-suite bedrooms complete the comprehensive package.
