Description

This stylish and popular restaurant attracts a well-heeled local following and is unusual in that it serves entirely taster dishes. Situated just off the main road, it resembles a French café from the outside with its slide-back doors, but the comfortable interior on two floors is decked out in glamorous yet elegant Rococo style. An enticing menu of modern British dishes with strong Mediterranean and Australian influences lives up to the stylish surroundings. Two- and three-course fixed-price menus feature alongside the carte and grazing and taster menus, the starter-sized portions enabling diners to enjoy a wide combination of finely balanced, exciting dishes. Kick off with Jerusalem artichoke soup with chanterelles and confit duck, follow with crab risotto, and then with beetroot carpaccio and walnut and lentil salad. Nougat parfait with passionfruit dessert rounds things off in style.

Having recently moved to Brighton I was keen to try a selection of my new local restaurants and was really impressed with Graze. The food is both inventive and delicious. A crab salad with gazpacho was fresh and creamy, with a great consistency. Delicate flavours, and evidence of slow cooking, will definitely ensure I return to this restaurant.

You choose several of the delicious, inventive dishes in perfectly judged portions. We enjoyed some of the best risotto outside Italy, a melt in the mouth venison pie, succulent black pudding, and sweet scallops with lentils. The chef, Adrian Geddes, has a way with pasta too, and the chocolate orange souffle was the perfect finish. The restaurant is attractive and comfortable, and the staff friendly. The wine list is extensive and well priced.
