Description
A chic, modern Mayfair-mews restaurant, with a subtle botanical theme - in keeping with its name - comes stylishly kitted out in neutral tones and natural textures, and dotted with a classy collection of art nouveau decorative glass. The entrance is via a smartly furnished terrace garden with wooden decking and pot plants, while inside it's smart, calm and softly lit. Celebrated chef Bjorn van der Horst may have moved on to join the Gordon Ramsay stable at La Noisette on Sloane Street, but talented chef Antonin Bonnet (formerly of Morton's, London) heads-up the highly accomplished kitchen at The Greenhouse in fine style. His modern approach is inspired by the highest-quality produce from the markets, putting a creative spin to French and Mediterranean classics on a fixed-price repertoire of lunch, carte and a brace of tasting options. Expect crab and daikon ravioli with spicy Korean red chilli pepper, perhaps followed by seared grey mullet with swede purée and Alenois watercress, and to finish, a choice of millefeuille: vanilla bavaroise and prune ice cream, or clementine and jasmine tea ice cream. A fabulous wine list and various tasters, inter-courses and ancillaries hold interest right through to the end.
