What's an easy access savings account?

 

With an easy access savings account, you can take out your money whenever you need it. This type of account is a good choice if you want to put money away for emergencies, or save up for something like a holiday or a new car. It's different to a fixed-term account, which locks your money away for a set time.

Is there a minimum balance I need to have in the savings account?

 

No minimum balance is needed to open or maintain the account.

How does the bonus rate work?

 

You’ll earn a bonus rate on top of your variable interest rate for the first 12 months after opening your account. When your bonus rate is due to expire, we’ll contact you to let you know. You’ll then continue to earn the variable rate available on your account at that time. You can find this information in your account's summary box.

 

Can I renew my bonus rate once it expires?

 

Your bonus rate will last for 12 months from account opening, and you won’t be able to renew it. You’ll continue to earn the variable rate of interest.

 

 

When do I get paid interest?

 

We calculate your interest rate daily, and pay it on the first day of every month. Weekends and bank holidays won't have any impact on when interest is paid.

Can I have a joint savings account?

 

Unfortunately, we don't offer joint savings accounts.

Can I have more than one savings account with The AA?

 

You can currently only have one savings account with us.

 

Do you support Apple Pay and Google Pay?

 

No, the only way you can add money to your savings account is by transferring it from your nominated account. You can't top up your savings with a card.

 

Do I need to pay tax on the interest I receive?

 

Depending on your circumstances, you may have to pay tax on any interest you earn from your savings. Your Personal Savings Allowance will depend on the amount you earn. You can find more information about paying tax on the HMRC website.

 

 

How do I request a copy of my data?

What data do you access and how do you keep it safe?

 

The UK Data Protection Act 2018 gives you specific rights relating to the personal data we hold. Our Financial Services privacy notice explains how and why we use this information – including what details we hold, who we might share it with, and your choices and rights. It also includes information about any checks and decisions we may make.

 

What are the fees for this account?

 

There are no fees associated with this AA savings account.

 

 

How do I open an AA savings account?

You can only open an AA savings account online. You must be a new applicant and you'll need to:

 

• Be a UK resident with a UK address

• Be aged 18 or over

• Have a UK mobile number

• Have UK tax residency only

• Have an open UK personal account that can be used as a nominated account

• Have a valid photo ID

 

During the application, we ask you to take a photo of your ID and a short video of yourself - to confirm your identity and help us prevent financial crime.

 

Can I take out a Member Saver account?

You can take out a Member Saver account if you've got AA breakdown cover, or an AA car or home insurance policy, directly with The AA - and not as part of a bank account benefit, third-party insurance contract, or through your vehicle’s manufacturer. 

 

 

How do I log in to my account? 

 

You can log in to your savings account here. Enter the email address you used to create your account and press ‘Next’. 

 

How do I change my personal details?

 

If you need to change your personal details (e.g. postal address, email or name), log in to your savings account and contact us through chat using the icon in the bottom right of your screen.

 

Where can I see my current interest rate?

 

If you are an existing customer, you can check your current interest rate by logging in to your savings account.

 

For Member Saver accounts opened between 8 April 2025 and 1 February 2026, the following rates currently apply:

 

• 4.05% AER


• 3.98% gross p.a.

 

For Easy Access Savings accounts opened between 8 April 2025 and 1 February 2026, the following rates currently apply:

 

• 3.95% AER


• 3.88% gross p.a.

 

For AA Member Launch Saver accounts opened between 3 February 2025 and 7 April 2025, the following rates currently apply:

 

• 4.05% AER


• 3.98% gross p.a.

 

For AA Launch Saver accounts opened between 3 February 2025 and 7 April 2025, the following rates currently apply:

 

• 3.95% AER


• 3.88% gross p.a

How do I make a complaint?

What's your process for handling complaints?

 

Firstly, we’ll let you know we’ve received your complaint. Then we’ll give you a complaint reference number to use if you need to contact us. That way, we can find your information quickly.

 

We may need to talk to you to help put things right. So please give us your up-to-date contact phone number and email address.

 

You’ll receive a letter to acknowledge your complaint - along with our complaints leaflet (PDF) - within 5 business days, outlining the next steps.

 

We aim to provide you with our final complaint response letter within 3 weeks of the complaint being raised. If we need longer than this, we’ll let you know in advance.

 

 

How do I add money to my account?

 

You can make your first deposit and top up your savings account by transferring money from your nominated account.

 

How do I take money out of my account?

 

You can withdraw money by logging in to your savings account and selecting 'Withdraw money' from the dashboard. The amount you choose to take out will be sent to your nominated account. The maximum amount you can withdraw each day can be found in your account menu, under 'Account limits'

 

 

 

How do I close my account?

 

If you'd like to close your savings account, you can let us know by logging in to your account and selecting the chat icon in the bottom right of your screen.

 

 

 

How do I report unauthorised access to my account?

 

Contact us immediately on 0808 502 2414 if there's activity on your account that you don't recognise, or you think someone else has accessed your account.

How can I register a power of attorney?

 

If you've registered, or been made power of attorney for someone, email us at [email protected]

 

We'll need to see a valid power of attorney document, so please have this ready when you get in touch.

 

How do I notify you of a bereavement?

 

You can let us know about a bereavement by emailing [email protected]

 

So that we can help you, we'll ask to see the death certificate and the will, if there is one. We'll also ask for ID for the executor or next of kin. In some cases, we may also ask for the Grant of Representation.
