Zebra-patterned bar-stools, illuminated twig features and mirrorballs in profusion may not be quite what you are expecting to see tacked on to the venerable half-timbered Wesley House, but the Bar & Grill are its answer to locals who are after a more dress-down experience than the main dining operation next door (see entry). It has become a popular summer lunch venue, not least for its repertoire of modern brasserie dishes as for its trend-setting buzz. Expect deliciously melty goats' cheese crostini with walnut-dressed rocket to start, followed by sage-topped pork belly with Puy lentils and mash in red wine jus, or pan-roasted cod with Mediterranean veg in basil dressing. These are simple but effective dishes that suit the mood of the place, as are desserts such as crème caramel with figs, or lemon posset with citrus salad.
