Although its choice of two 18-hole golf courses are a major draw, Dale Hill's lovely countryside location with views across the High Weald ridges and valleys give it another string to its bow, as do leisure facilities and two restaurants. It's a country golf club and done out accordingly, with the large fine-dining Wealden Restaurant the star attraction, but there's no escaping the game of golf, though, for the restaurant looks out across the course. The modern British food is worth a round or two, with its classic combinations skillfully prepared; halibut and scallop tartare, for example, with crisp oyster tempura and lemongrass infusion, followed by grilled beef fillet with soya-infused oxtail consommé, roast salsify and parsnip purée and bordelaise sauce.
