The Dragon is breathing fire after a megabucks renovation has brought everything up to full contemporary spec, making the most of its location in the thick of Swansea's town-centre action. Built on a bedrock of local produce, the straightforward modern European cooking is in tune with the setting. Keenly-priced two- or three-course dinner menus, bolstered by a carte, are served in the contemporary Piano Restaurant and typically get going with wild mushroom risotto with spinach and goats' cheese, then move on to rump steak with blue cheese butter, slow-roasted tomatoes and chips. Dessert might be iced gingerbread parfait with dark chocolate sauce. If you're here for lunch, similar fare is served in the buzzy Dragon Brasserie, abreezy modern venue with exposed industrial ducting and spotlights above bare darkwood tables and ringside seats looking through full-length windows onto the busy street.
