Rafters Restaurant
220 Oakbrook Road,
Nethergreen,
SHEFFIELD,
S11 7ED
In the leafy suburb of Fulwood, but not far from the centre, Marcus Lane's neighbourhood restaurant is one of the beacons of fine dining in the city. Inside has an almost villagey feel, with rugged exposed brickwork and centuries-old rafters setting the tone in the hexagonal dining room. The cooking mixes and matches a cocktail of influences from around the world, Mediterranean ingredients rubbing shoulders with Asian techniques in a productive interplay. Start with roast duck breast and Thai-style salad of noodles and crispy veg, dressed in black sesame and sweet soy, and follow up with Whitby cod, brown shrimps and capers in lemon and parsley sauce, or perhaps Angus fillet with braised oxtail in Shiraz. Voguish chocolatey dessert options such as brownies and cheesecakes vie with the more classic likes of blueberry and almond tart with maple syrup ice cream at the end.

Quality food, quality service, excellent value for money. Rafters is the best restaurant in the North of England.
You must try it.

The fact that I shall be dining at Rafters again in April should speak for itself. In case it doesn't I love the place, I love the food and I love the wine selection. Enough said!

The whole atmosphere of the building is fantastic, the food is the best I have tasted, and the home made bread is exquisit.
