A former brewery, this 18th-century building has been converted into an ultra-swish boutique hotel, and the restaurant now has a minimalist décor of white, white, white, a few flashes of colour coming from the occasional brightly-coloured wall or funky artwork. The menu offers a decent choice of mainly British and European fare, from beetroot carpaccio and goats' cheese salad to chargrilled chicken breast with pea and lemon risotto, or prawn cocktail with Marie Rose sauce to slow-roast shoulder of Lamberhurst lamb wrapped in Parma ham in a red wine jus. Around half a dozen dishes to share are on offer, too, along with about the same number of steaks with a choice of sauces.
