Rosewood London

252 High Holborn, LONDON, WC1V 7EN

2 rosettes

This magnificent building on High Holborn is a fine setting, and the old East Banking Hall with its soaring marble pillars is now a modishly grand restaurant. A brasserie menu of traditional British dishes brought into the present day offers the likes of Marie Rose shellfish cocktail with avocado, or fried squid with Gentleman's Relish to start. Majestic follow-ups include roast beef rib, served with a fine, deeply flavoured gravy and crisp onion rings, or perfectly timed, garlic-buttered grilled lobster with sea vegetables and chips. Desserts include baked rice pudding with a blob of blackcurrant jam, sherried-up trifle, or banana with custard.
