Myalacarte is a restaurant with a clear focus and an environmental conscience. They're big on recycling, conserving energy, keeping air miles low, that sort of thing, and will even consider taking your home-grown produce in exchange for a meal. It has a clean-lined contemporary look, with burnished wooden tables, and a relaxed, unpretentious vibe. The menu changes seasonally, a meal kicking off with fabulous pork crackling and home-made bread. A first-course Cornish octopus salad comes with kohlrabi carpaccio, ginger, coriander and oriental dressing, while main courses might see stuffed Dorset chicken thigh served with confit red cabbage, sautéed King Edward potatoes and port wine jus. Yorkshire rhubarb crumble with home-made custard is a homely finish.
