The Harris family have run their appealing restaurant on a cobbled side street in the town centre for over 30 years, offering professionally prepared and freshly cooked quality produce (local meats, seafood from Newlyn, for instance), with the kitchen taking an unshowy line. Seafood makes up the bulk of starters - crab Florentine topped with spinach and Parmesan sauce, for example - with meat dishes getting a fair showing among mains: Creedy Carver duck comes with red cabbage spiked with star anise, red wine jus, green beans and sugarsnap peas. A textbook vanilla crème brûlée with fresh raspberries and a tuile biscuit provides a satisfying finish.
