The Advocate Arms

2 Queen Street, MARKET RASEN, LN8 3EH

2 rosettes

The 18th-century restaurant with rooms in the centre of town has a contemporary finish and aims to impress with boutique styling and an open-plan interior. In the main restaurant, the output is broadly modern British, with some inventive combinations and plenty to satisfy traditionalists. Start with baked sea bass and braised fennel with prawn tortellini, and follow with slow-roast pork belly and butternut purée in cider reduction, or a panaché of fish with tomato and saffron salsa in champagne velouté. There are steaks too, served with trad accompaniments and a choice of sauces, and desserts such as raspberry and mint savarin with popping candy.
