The Keeper's House

Royal Academy of Arts, Burlington House, Piccadilly, LONDON, W1J 0BD

1 rosettes

The Keeper's House was installed in the 19th century as a grace-and-favour apartment for the steward of the Royal Academy collections. A strikingly attractive restaurant has been fashioned here, the recessed rooms imitating those of the galleries upstairs. As well as inspiring cocktails and English wines, there's a menu of spruce modern British and European cooking. Start with a flavoursome caramelised shallot and mushroom tart and then consider a perfectly cooked cod with sea purslane and leek and watercress purée, and, to finish, a simple, but excellent Yorkshire rhubarb syllabub. It's members only until 4pm, and then all are welcome.
