Le Pont de la Tour

The Butlers Wharf Building, 36d Shad Thames, LONDON, SE1 2YE

2 rosettes

The name translates as Tower Bridge, and that's what lies before you, a solid-gold view framed by the city skyscrapers. Expect well-executed food rooted in the French classics, where seafood is a strong suit (various types of oysters or a plateau de fruits de mer) and luxury ingredients come thick and fast. Start with roasted wood pigeon with confit leg tortellini, celeriac and pear, followed by pan-fried John Dory partnered by bone marrow, sauté squid and sauce bordelaise. Sticking with the Gallic theme, Valrhona milk chocolate mousse is served with salted caramel ice cream. If your wallet can stand it, the place is well known for its cracking wine list.
