Launceston Place

1a Launceston Place, LONDON, W8 5RL

2 rosettes

Consisting of four Victorian houses on the corner of an upmarket mews, Launceston Place could be mistaken for a smart neighbourhood joint. But cross the threshold and the first-class service team swings into action while the interior design (a series of spaces in shades of grey with modern artworks on the walls) catches the eye. The kitchen's output is rooted in French classical ways and incorporates contemporary techniques to good effect. Start with a dish that combines a hen's egg, bacon and baked celeriac, topped with lardo and yeast foam, followed by a spot-on slow-cooked cod with clam pesto, and finish with a dressed up dark chocolate nemesis.
