Inn the Park

Situated opposite Horseguards Parade, flanked by the Mall and Birdcage Walk, Inn the Park has to be one of London's most glamorous addresses. The fact that the place looks like a large Scandinavian chalet shouldn't distract you from what is a quintessential London experience. Eating on the outdoor decked area on a summer's day is an occasion to remember, the more so when the kitchen is on song, producing dishes such as a salad of vibrantly fresh Guernsey crab, pea shoots and sweetcorn, followed perhaps by Barnsley double lamb chop with its kidney, served with summer greens and anchovy. Complication is avoided, the better to focus on fundamental cooking skills, evident in the satisfying simplicity of a hunk of apple pie with vanilla ice cream.
