Granary Square, 1-3 Stable Square, King's Cross, LONDON, N1C 4AB
Take the formidable talent of renowned chef Bruno Loubet and add in a hip venue in newly trendy King's Cross, and you've got Grain Store, which blurs the boundary between kitchen and dining room in one massive industrial-looking space with chunky wooden tables, exposed brickwork and ducting, and an all-round cool vibe. The kitchen combines classic French cooking with something altogether more adventurous: vegetables get top billing (often listed first among ingredients) with hot seaweed sushi, glazed pak choi, black garlic purée and vanilla butter served with hake cooked à la plancha. Before that, there's snail piperade with Bayonne ham on corn brioche with puréed olives, and to finish, strawberries with goats' milk pannacotta and fennel pollen.
