The former Galvin Café à Vin is now Galvin HOP, a switch of allegiance of sorts, for it is now branded as a 'pub deluxe', with shiny copper tanks above the bar containing unpasteurised Czech lager. The menu could be described as modern pub or modern bistro, whatever floats your boat, with a repertoire that covers a lot of bases from deluxe hot dogs to Dorset snails cooked in the wood-fired oven. A starter of super-fresh Dorset crab mayonnaise on toast gets things off to a flyer, before a simply (and correctly) done Black Angus top sirloin, a luxe fish pie, or Kentish lamb Barnsley chop.
