Leeds Road, LIVERSEDGE, Dewsbury, WF15 6JA
This stone-built, family-owned hotel is definitely worth leaving the M62 for, in order to dine in either the open-plan Bistro or its conservatory extension, furnished with wicker-style chairs and tables with tea lights. There's a more formal restaurant, which fills up on busy evenings. Shared by both, the modern British menu ranges widely to offer seared king scallops with Spanish black pudding, apple, chervil, celeriac and sherry reduction as a starter, as well as indubitably English roast Gressingham duck breast and leg meat, rosemary crust, crispy potatoes, roast garlic, watercress purée and veal stock reduction. Puddings include glazed blackcurrant tart with liquorice ice cream and pistachio crumb.
