The modern Lea Marston Hotel is ensconced in the Warwickshire countryside surrounded by over 50 acres of grounds, yet is close to all that Birmingham has to offer. There's a spa, of course, to meet 21st-century sensibilities. The hotel's Adderley Restaurant has a sharp contemporary finish, with cool lighting, unclothed tables, and some soothing background music. The menu shows decidedly modern leanings with evident classical foundations, an eye for presentation and a good deal of creativity. Start with a salad of pigeon, raspberry and shallots, or seared scallops with pork belly and apple purée. Next up, sea bass with fennel purée, crab bon bon and tomato dressing, and to finish perhaps a fig tart with cherry compôte and mascarpone ice cream.
