Views of the River Ness are a treat at this intimately charming restaurant in the heart of the town. Chef-proprietor Allan Little will quite likely welcome you personally such is the charming nature of the place. The open-plan kitchen is a focal point in the dining room where piscine art gives a clue as to what's cooking. A warm colour scheme, bench style seating and crisply laid tables featuring sparkling glasses and good silverware bring to mind a bistro, while imaginatively presented modern Scottish food with a strong emphasis on local seafood impresses without being pretentious; Kyle of Tongue oysters, perhaps, or Orkney crab pâté with cucumber and caper salad and toasted brioche. Move on to bouillabaise of Arisaig mussels, king prawns and sea bream, or a prime Scottish rump steak with rocket and parmesan salad and potato wedges.
