Description
This charming Georgian property is a cosy affair with bags of character - beamed ceiling, huge open fire and rugs on wooden floors. But the name of this family-run establishment only tells half the story, as the eponymous Gordon is joined in the kitchen by son Garry whose cooking is now cutting edge with that all-important wow-factor. The imaginative modern cooking is underpinned by a classical theme and makes good use of seasonal produce from the abundant Scottish larder on its appealing, sensibly compact menus. Jerusalem artichoke and pancetta velouté with roasted scallops and chestnut purée might feature alongside the likes of pan-fried line-caught sea bass with saffron potato mousseline, and mussel, clam and oyster broth, while for dessert you might try hot Valrhona chocolate fondant with basil ice cream and passionfruit and guava coulis.

I have enjoyed Gordon and Maria Watson's welcoming hospitality a few times over the years. And have always been impressed by there succulent meals.their pride and devotion to using only the very best of Scottish produce in the most imaginative creations in Fine Dining. The quality wines and liqueurs on offer are a delight and complement a most memorable meal. The very Best in Fine Dining.

In a warm and cosy atmosphere, Maria and her husband Gordon offer excellent food based on local ingredients. They call it 'modern scottish cooking', I call it just delicous, visionary composed and arranged. The excellent wine list completes the experience.
