Longleat Estate, HORNINGSHAM, BA12 7LY
A creeper-covered stone building, The Bath Arms is in a picturesque village within the Longleat Estate. The kitchen takes pride in sourcing produce from within 50 miles of the estate and in keeping within broadly British parameters. Ham hock and chicken terrine with piccalilli or beetroot-cured salmon with horseradish mousse may precede game and ale pie in rich gravy with seasonal vegetables or pan-fried sea bream with sunblush tomatoes, samphire, rocket and sautéed potatoes, all technically correct and full of distinct flavours. Breads are made in-house, as are puddings such as rhubarb and coconut crumble with coconut ice cream, or Earl Grey pannacotta with blood orange sorbet.
