It is hard to imagine a more idyllic setting for summer dining than this contemporary restaurant in the quintessentially English Borde Hill Gardens. Jeremy's occupies a stylishly converted stable block overlooking the Victorian walled garden (which comes up trumps with fresh herbs and seasonal produce) and a dreamy south-facing terrace. Indoors, it's a wide open, bright space with modern art on the walls. Chef-patron Jeremy Ashpool calls upon a well-established network of small local producers and delivers big, bold flavours and colourful platefuls of modern, vibrant, Mediterranean-inflected food. Mont d'Or and chestnut ravioli, say, followed by Balcombe Estate venison, or line-caught brill with Selsey crab and sea beets.
