Description
This revitalised Glasgow institution - a timbered 19th-century former wine merchant's premises and tavern set in a city tenement - has a surprisingly unassuming exterior. But inside is quite a different matter; its rich and luxurious décor combining original Victorian fittings with fashionable modern touches. Think oak-panelled walls, high ornate ceilings, stained-glass windows, deeply comfortable seating, crisp white linen and a stunning marble-topped bar. The kitchen's modern approach deals in quality ingredients from the abundant Scottish larder, its balanced, appropriately refined dishes showcasing clean, clear flavours. Think a daube of Blairgowrie beef with parsnip mash, roasted root vegetables and pan juices, and an apple and vanilla pannacotta crumble finish, served with rhubarb consommé.
