Description
Arched leaded-glass windows look out across the Royal Mile from this sophisticated restaurant housed in one of the oldest buildings on the famous thoroughfare. A tasteful, simple décor with plum and white walls creates a soothing ambience that contrasts with the hustle and bustle of the street below. Cooking is consistent and skilful, classically based but with a modern approach, using quality local and seasonal produce. Dishes come intelligently simply presented allowing key flavours to shine; take a saddle of Scottish lamb served with baby spinach and ragout of carrots, dauphinoise potato and a port sauce, and perhaps a chocolate torte with chocolate sauce and mint ice cream to finish. Service is fittingly refined and friendly.
