Description
Situated in the heart of the city, Atrium represents the modern face of Scottish dining. The dining room is chic, unselfconsciously trendy, with colours and surfaces chosen from the modern template of natural and earthy colours. In the evening, candlelight flickers against the darkwood tables. Ingredients are locally sourced where possible, the suppliers name-checked on the menu, and the produce deftly handled by a kitchen confident in its skills. Combinations on the daily-changing menu can be ambitious, flavours bold, such as a starter of seared Campbeltown scallops paired with confit chicken wings, lemon chutney and a cumin jus. The produce shines in a main course of wild halibut, accurately cooked, and Hugh Grierson's organic lamb served three ways, while a chocolate and pine nut tart is a simple and successful dessert. There is a tasting menu and an extensive wine list.
