Main Street, DUNFANAGHY, Co Donegal, ROI,
Overlooking Sheephaven Bay, a stroll away from Killahoey Beach, Arnolds is not far short of its centenary. It's a friendly, comfortable place, with open fires and lots of windows in Seascapes Restaurant to capitalise on the coastal views. The kitchen takes a fuss-free approach to starters like oriental beef salad with chilli, ginger and soy. Fish, as you would expect, is well handled, as borne out by herb-crusted baked cod, Donegal Bay mussels, champ and French beans; a meat alternative could be honey-glazed roast half Monaghan duckling served on rösti with rich orange sauce. Try pannacotta with berry compôte, one of the home-baked desserts.
