Headlam Hall

Headlam, Gainford, DARLINGTON, DL2 3HA

2 rosettes

Refurbished in early 2016, this handsome house dates from the beginning of the 17th century and retains plenty of period charm including its walled garden. The restaurant is a draw in its own right, offering diners a series of settings that take in an elegant panelled dining room and the more contemporary orangery. The kitchen delivers modern dishes based on classic combinations. Crisp lamb belly, minted pea purée, watercress and redcurrant jus is one enjoyable starter with plenty of textural contrast. It might be followed by spiced monkfish tail, Bombay potatoes, spinach and peas with a saffron cream.
