This restaurant for the farmers' market next to Canterbury West station has chunky wood tables with views through majestic arched windows over the comings and goings below. It uses the market produce to the full, the selections changing with every service. Start with scallops thermidor, or a crab and tarragon 'risotto' of bulgar wheat, before main courses that go the distance with pedigree meats like 24-day aged rib-eye in Colston Bassett Stilton butter, or rack of lamb with prunes and pine nuts. Fish might be hake with curried mussels, and dessert a satisfyingly tart Bramley apple crème brûlée with cinnamon shortbread.
