riverstation

The Grove, BRISTOL, BS1 4RB

1 rosettes

Converted from a river police station (the clue's in the name) this lively eatery is glazed from top to bottom to make the most of the harbour views, whether you're in the buzzy café-bar at water level or the cool industrial-chic restaurant on the first floor. Inspiration is drawn from far and wide to create bright, up-to-date dishes rooted in good culinary sense. Thus maple-smoked Wagyu beef is matched with horseradish cream and a watercress, radish and asparagus salad, ahead of duck breast with panisse (fried chickpea flour cake), spring greens and roasted peach. To finish, warm mascarpone and honey soufflé cheesecake with raspberry sorbet and a poppy seed tuile hits the spot. The kitchen is serious about its ingredients - churning its own butter, baking bread and smoking fish in-house - so you can rest assured that it's all based on top-notch seasonal materials.
