206 High Street, BARNET, EN5 5SZ
Behind a rather quaint-looking shop front, the restaurant has a cool, contemporary interior. 'Simple execution of good technique' is the kitchen's mantra, with everything made in-house. A terrine of foie gras and duck confit is partnered by pickled apricots, apple and chervil and pain d'épice, and seared scallops by pea purée and macadamia nuts. Menus encompass the familiar as well as the more adventurous: grilled rib-eye with béarnaise, say, whole sea bass stuffed with herbs, or chicken danoise with rhubarb compôte, pickled cucumber, Parisienne potatoes and chicken jus. Puddings are no afterthought when among them might be lemon crème brûlée with raspberries and ginger shortbread.
