The Bay Tree
Description
A 16th-century timber-framed building houses this friendly family-run restaurant in the town centre. With a stylish calming cream and pale green décor, diners can relax in the contemporary interior, or on a pretty sun-dappled terrace, while the chefs create modern British dishes with a Mediterranean or Pacific Rim twist. Successful combinations include a starter of toasted coconut-battered tiger prawns with a pineapple and sweet chilli risotto. Seasonal and local produce form the basis of more traditional dishes like chargrilled venison fillet on a parsnip and thyme rösti. Try desserts like wild strawberry and cracked black pepper samosa.
