The Dove Restaurant with Rooms
Holbrook,
ALBURGH,
Harleston,
IP20 0EP
You might say that Robert Oberhoffer has cooking in his blood: he is the fifth generation chef in the family, and built up a pedigree CV before setting up his own restaurant with wife Conny over a decade ago. The Dove models itself on the style of a French country auberge, looking to the local terroir for fresh, seasonal ingredients for unpretentious dishes realised with polished technical skills. The setting for his culinary endeavours is a clean-cut modern space with pale wooden floors, cerise walls and high-backed wooden chairs at smartly linen-clothed tables, or on a good day, the outdoor terrace is the place to be. Start with a classic soufflé Arnold Bennett - a twice-baked cheese soufflé set atop poached naturally-smoked haddock and leeks, followed perhaps by slow-cooked lamb shoulder served with tomato and black olive confit, garlic butter, basil pesto on creamed potatoes, and roasting juices.

Wonderful food and very warm welcome. Made to feel truly 'at home'. Comfortable room with everything needed for an enjoyable stay.
First visit after passing the venue on the road for years! A revelation - we will go back.

I have eaten here many times and highly recommend it for its imaginative, expertly prepared and presented food. There is always a variety of fish, steak, chicken, pork, duck and vegetarian main courses. And fabulous puds! I've brought loads of people here and everyone has loved it. In my opinion, this restaurant offers the best quality food for the most reasonable prices in this part of the country. Don't tell everyone though, or else we won't be able to get a table...
