Old Raglan Road, Llanvihangel Gobion, Clytha, ABERGAVENNY, NP7 9BA
A handsome brick-built William and Mary house in rural Monmouthshire, LLCH (as the web address has it) stands in 20 acres of trimly kept lawns with mature trees and a walled kitchen garden, within sight of the Tudor church of St Bridget's. A page of proudly attributed local suppliers inspires confidence. The results can be seen in seared langoustines with a 'risotto' of diced potato and smoked bacon, followed by roast breast and confit leg of Gressingham duck supported by roasted baby beetroot and beetroot purée, parsnips (roasted and crisps), and wild mushrooms. To finish, there's tangerine soufflé and jelly with confit peel, almonds and candied citrus ice cream.
