The Farm House

97 The High Street, WEST MALLING, ME19 6NA

Well positioned in the heart of the Kentish market town of West Malling, with a pretty walled garden overlooking 15th-century stone barns. The handsome Elizabethan building offers a friendly welcome, whether stopping for refreshment in the stylish bar or eating in one its two dining areas. Local seasonal ingredients are expertly used in menus with a strong French influence. So a glass of wine may be called for - choose from 20 sold by the glass. A typical starter is sticky pork cheek with pak choi, ginger and garlic. Main courses vary from pub favourites such as Harvey's beer battered fish and chips; to seared sea bass with Kentish new potatoes, roasted Jerusalem artichokes and crayfish beurre blanc. The choice for children is impressively varied and sophisticated, with dishes like lamb koftas with flatbread, salad and dip. Beer festival in early May.
