97 The High Street, WEST MALLING, ME19 6NA
Well positioned in the heart of the Kentish market town of West Malling, with a pretty walled garden overlooking 15th-century stone barns. The handsome Elizabethan building offers a friendly welcome, whether stopping for refreshment in the stylish bar or eating in one its two dining areas. Local seasonal ingredients are expertly used in menus with a strong French influence. So a glass of wine may be called for - choose from 20 sold by the glass. In addition to the tapas or fish sharing boards typical starters are smoked haddock and caper fishcakes. Main courses vary from pub favourites such as a mixed grill, to slow-cooked Moroccan chickpea stew; and Kentish wild rabbit and Aspall cider pie. Puddings could be chocolate and chilli tart; and apple tarte Tatin. Sandwiches and paninis are served until 6pm.
