Sibthorpe Hill, TUXFORD, Newark, NG22 0PJ
Bruce and Allison Elliott-Bateman turned this quirky pub in landlocked Nottinghamshire into a renowned seafood restaurant. Beautifully fresh fish and seafood dominate the menu, with food served in a multitude of rooms; the piazza room is styled as an Italian courtyard and the beamed restaurant is big on rustic charm. Over a dozen blackboards offer ever-changing fish dishes, as well as 'things that don't swim'. You could select po pei mussels, followed by lobster thermidor, twice baked soufflé or locally shot pheasant - braised leg and breast wrapped in pancetta.
