The Inn at Farnborough

This Grade II listed, 16th-century property used to be the Butcher's Arms, having once belonged to the butcher on the now National Trust-owned Farnborough Park Estate. Built of locally quarried, honey-coloured Hornton stone, tasteful restoration has ensured the retention of a fine inglenook fireplace and other original features. The bar serves Hook Norton real ales, locally made Hogan's cider, and plenty of wines served by the glass. The concise menu lists British pub classic dishes, and others with a Mediterranean influence, but quality ingredients and high culinary skills ensure impressive results whatever your choice. Starters include sautéed king scallops with crab and tarragon risotto; and among the mains are roast breast of Gressingham duck with spiced plum and star anise jus, rösti potato, carrot purée and winter roots; and chicken curry with lime, coriander and fragrant rice. Enjoy good coffee in the terraced garden or covered decking area.
