The Old Plough

2 Station Road, STOKE D'ABERNON, KT11 3BN

This 300-year-old pub is where Sherlock Holmes and Dr Watson 'stayed' in one of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's novels. In reality, you'll find a charming bar and a light, bright restaurant overlooking the garden. The kitchen prepares fresh food all day, including fresh sandwiches and light lunch options (until 5.30pm in the bar), with starters such as seafood gratin; and duck and spring onion potato hash, oriental coriander salad and hoi sin sauce heading the menu before sharing dishes and mains that include rotisserie chicken, sautéed new potatoes and roasted shallots; Conisbee's free-range Cumberland sausages, colcannon mash and onion gravy; and wild mushroom, baby spinach and poached egg risotto with truffle oil. Children are welcome in the restaurant area until 7.30pm.
