The Queens

2 High Street, ST IVES, TR26 1RR

There's an easy-going mix of chic and contemporary design with a nod to times past in this thriving hostelry at the heart of the old town. It's worth the stroll from the harbour or the resort's beaches to discover this solid granite-built, late-Georgian building, where local art works vie for attention with local cider, Cornish beers and a great menu inspired by the wealth of the county's larder. A sample lunch menu includes panko-breaded king prawns, fish, Thai salad and sweet chilli sauce; Tribute beer-battered fish 'n' chips; and home-cooked honey-roast ham, free-range eggs and chips. A chalkboard holds much additional promise. Some of the stylish bedrooms have views to Carbis Bay.
