Swan Street, SILEBY, LE12 7NW
Behind the unassuming exterior of this 1930s building, you'll find a free house of some character, with a book-lined restaurant and a homely bar with an open fire and pictures and knick-knacks adorning the walls. Menus change weekly, and there are blackboard specials, too. Menu favourites include beef cobbler (diced beef cooked in Guinness with onions, mushrooms and Stilton scone topping), salmon and prawn pasta, and sliced potato cakes with garlic mushrooms and butternut squash. There's a good range of gourmet 8oz beefburgers with various toppings, and if you've still got room, you could try and fit in a chocolate brownie or chocolate tiffin for afters. Sunday lunch is also a popular event.
