Main Road, Wykeham, SCARBOROUGH, YO13 9QB
A converted 17th-century farmhouse on the edge of the North Yorkshire Moors, within easy reach of the Scarborough coastline and Ryedale. Inside are lovely high ceilings, and large sash windows look down to the attractive stone village of Wykeham. Yorkshire ales populate the bar, and lunchtime plates represent excellent value. In the evening the charming restaurant is transformed into an intimate candle-lit dining room, where a Whitby smoked herring fishcake could precede the pork loin steak matador (served with Spanish-style patatas bravas). If a hazlenut and mochachino Pavlova cannot be resisted, one of the inn's 10 en suite and sumptuously furnished bedrooms may also prove tempting.
