23 High Street, SCAMPTON, LN1 2SD
Packed with artefacts, the pub hails the achievements of RAF Bomber Command's 617 Squadron, The Dambusters, in 1943. In 1999, when this 200-year-old farmhouse became a pub, three survivors of that mission pulled the first pints. It's home to landlord Greg's microbrewery, whose real ales are among the six on offer. Grimsby haddock appears on the menu, as do steak and ale casserole; grilled fresh tuna; and leek and cheese crumble. Greg advises visitors not to miss the artwork in the lavatories. RAF Scampton, home of the Red Arrows, is next door, and their training flights may occasionally rattle the glasses.
