The Cock Inn

Church Lane, SARRATT, WD3 6HH

Dating from the 17th century, this traditional village pub stands opposite Sarratt's Norman church in the heart of the Chess Valley, a favoured walking area. Originally called the 'Cock Horse', it has head-cracking low beams, an inglenook fireplace and Hall & Woodhouse ales at the bar, while the ancient timbered barn houses the restaurant. Expect classic and imaginative pub dishes such as home-made chicken liver pâté followed by pan-fried sea bass fillets on crushed new potatoes with a spinach and coconut sauce. Light bites and sandwiches are served in the bar.
