The Dolaucothi Arms

Set in the rolling green Cothi Valley, the Dolaucothi Arms is a Grade II listed building owned by the National Trust. At the helm are David Joy and Esther Hubert who are passionate about Welsh food and drink. Choose an armchair in the cosy lounge bar, or sit at a large table in the main bar where Welsh real ales and Westons and Dunkerton ciders are on tap. Head for the separate dining room with wood-burning stove and eclectic mix of mismatched furniture to enjoy Welsh rarebit with Dave's 'famous' piccalilli; Brynheulog Mangalitza pork and leek sausages, mash, peas and onion gravy; Moroccan lamb pie with chips; an 8oz or 10oz 21-day aged Welsh rump steak. Gingerbread pudding with cider caramel sauce makes a great finish. A beer and cider festival is held over the Summer Bank Holiday weekend in August.
