The Fishermans Arms

31 Lambhay Street, The Barbican, PLYMOUTH, PL1 2NN

One wall of this city centre pub in the historic Barbican area is the only surviving part of Plymouth Castle, which was demolished in the 15th century. Devoid of modern-day intrusions, it's a bustling local with log fires, regular quiz nights, tip-top St Austell ales, and award-winning food. Dishes range from moules frites to steak, mushroom and ale pie. There is even a 3ft wide tunnel underneath the bar of Plymouth's second oldest pub, which runs to the shoreline - smugglers perhaps?
