Barley Mow

53 High Street, PAULERSPURY, NN12 7NA

The description 'idyllic rural spot' may be a tad overworked, but it certainly applies to the Barley Mow in Paulerspury. Surrounded by thatched cottages and beautiful farmland, it's been the village centre watering hole since at least the 17th century. Among the traditional features is a Northamptonshire skittles table, and a large fireplace with wood-burner; a more recent addition is a games room with darts and table tennis. Adnams, two guests and a beer garden satisfy ale enthusiasts. The menu tempts with a starter of port and Long Clawson Stilton mushrooms on toast, followed perhaps by Matt's fried chicken with twice-cooked chips and coleslaw.
